Spring of Life -
H.
Roger Bothwell
Whenever people speak of the beauty of New England autumn becomes the
theme. I would like to speak of the glory of New England in June. The
forests are lushly decorated with Mountain Laurel in full bloom. Lakes are
garlanded with delicate pink white bushes demanding that one think some
great landscape artist had individually planted each bush.
Sometimes preachers become so other worldly focused it is difficult for
them to admit there are beautiful things here. It is as if they are afraid we
will become content with this world and stop longing for the promised
future. But God has intentionally planted His appetizers. He wants us to
taste the glory. He wants us to see what He can do. It makes the future all
the more desirable. It is a trailer.
Genesis 1:11-12, "Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-
bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according
to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants
bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it
according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."
Savor each day. Look about you for somewhere there is something waiting
for you to taste the glory of our future.
