Spring of Life -
When our boys were small we
set out for the typical vacation. The car was full of all
the things we would need along the way and each boy had his
own camera and enough film to memorialize this great
adventure. We were about two miles from home and about five
minutes on our way when our younger son announced from the
back seat that he had used up all his film.
Needless to say the pictures
that came back from the processor were not overly inspiring
as we saw fuzzy, blurred photos of our street.
One of the things we learn
as we grow older is the value of waiting. While we press
forward to obtain goals we realize that achievements
materialize when we patiently stay the course.
Paul once wrote in
Philippians 3:13 and 14,
one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which
God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Character development and
ultimately becoming what we want ourselves to be is a
lifetime process. Patience with others and ourselves will
make the journey more pleasant.
