Breaking the Shackles of the Past

When an elephant is small and placed in captivity a shackle is placed around one of its hind legs. The chain is then fixed to a stake that is driven deep into the ground. As the little fellow tries to get away it soon learns the stake will hold. Months and years go by and the little guy ceases to be little. But the keeper no longer has to drive the stake deep into the ground. The slightest tug is enough to keep the giant in place. It would be easy for the elephant to walk away pulling the stake behind but it will not do so. It is captivated by the past.

If you have a dream of some goal or task in life you tried a long time ago and failed maybe it is time for you to try again. As time goes by we change. We develop new skills and new ways of doing things. Maybe your dream will become a reality as you realize the things that shackled you in past have become insignificant.

Dare to dream. Dare to try new things. Dare to try old things. Whatever you do don’t let the failures and confines of the past keep you from following your dreams. If you have a relationship with God ask for help. He will be delighted to team up with you and aid you to become more than you ever dreamed for yourself.
