My New Necktie

Today I spilled food on a brand new necktie. Why is it you can wear an old necktie day after day for years and when you finally get a new one you look down and discover a big glob of food saturating its way into the woven fibers of that new tie?

As soon as you notice the new stain you immediately spring into action to salvage what is left but the options are limited. If you try to rub it off you only smear it and push it in deeper. I have been known to suck on a tie to try to extract whatever it is. The process is similar to sucking poison out of a snake bit, which I understand is a useless process.

Actually I would be pretty well off if the only stains I had were on a necktie. The ones on my character are the ones I should be concerned about lifting. When I finally realize I cannot do it just like with everything else I cannot do. I ask for help and help is always available.

The promise is real. “Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow.” I’ll accept that! With great joy I will accept that. Isn’t it amazing that God cares enough about us to clean us up? The little book of Jude finishes with the thought, “Now unto Him who is able to present us faultless before the throne.” I’ll take that with great joy.

I'm Roger Bothwell and my address is hrb1@tiac.net or 151 Old Farm Rd. Leominster, MA 01453. Thank you for your support of our faith ministry.
