On Christ The Solid Rock

Archimedes once said, “Give me a place to stand, and I will move the world.” He was of course speaking about his newly discovered principle of the fulcrum.

Centuries later Decartes picked up on Archimedes statement and said in regard to philosophy, “Give me just one certain truth, and I will build upon it an entire philosophy.”

Paul once said, in Ephesians 2:20, “And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;…”

When I was a boy I learned to sing the song, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

Jesus is the most incredible rock. He is the rock of ages upon which we can safely stand. Upon Him we can build our faith, our belief structure, our security and future. He is immovable. Thus He is the fulcrum that can be used to move the world. Don’t you just love Acts 17:6? Talking about the followers of Jesus it reads, “And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;”

What a fabulous testimony to the effectiveness of the early Christians. That is what I want to do and be. I want to turn the world upside down for Jesus. If you will join with me in your personal quest to be like Him we, with the help and power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, can do it. We can start by turning our own little world upside by filling it with the maximum amount of love.
