Our Little Houdini

Our black lab continues to be mystified by a chipmunk that lives under a bird feeder outside our back window. Our lab sits by the window and is interested in the variety of birds that feed a few feet from her nose. She can bear this. What she cannot bear are the squirrels and the chipmunk. They create a tremendous amount of excitement and desire to lunge right through the window.

On such occasions I open the door as she prances like a thoroughbred in the gate at the Kentucky Derby. She bursts into the yard only to discover the squirrels head for the branches but the chipmunk just disappears. She runs in circles searching and remains extremely puzzled by this little Houdini.

I have watched him and he has the tiniest crack between two stones that obviously leads to home and safety. He is usually down the hatch in less time than it took us to read this sentence. The dog cannot figure out how he does it. He is really quick.

I figure the only thing that disappears faster is our sins when we ask Jesus for forgiveness. He is most anxious to comply. He is delighted when we take advantage of the provisions of the cross. There is genuine satisfaction when we give God the opportunity to shower us with grace and the extremely riches of His mercy. He will do it as we ask. When we are finished asking it is complete. They have been blotted out. They are gone. How grand!

I'm Roger Bothwell and my address is hrb1@tiac.net or 151 Old Farm Rd. Leominster, MA 01453. Thank you for your support of our faith ministry.
