My Bear Has Termites

My bear has termites. Really! He does. I went outside yesterday morning and noticed sawdust at the feet of my bear and realized something is eating him.

You see some time ago I bought a wooden bear from a guy with a chainsaw. We were at a county fair and this guy with a chainsaw had right before my eyes turned a four feet tree trunk into a bear. Well I had to have it. I approached the man with the saw and made him a ridiculous offer on the basis that he would not have to carry it home. If he took my offer I would carry it home. He took it and I got a bear. Now when my grandchildren come to visit it is all so exciting because there is a bear in grandpa's woods. It is all great fun! I am in the process of creating new bear stories.

Well you can imagine my despair when I realized that something is eating the bear. He looks great on the outside but something is cobbling him up on the inside. This is not unlike a lot of people. Everyday we see people who appear to be functioning just fine. They seem composed and happy. But inside they are allowing hurts and frustrations to eat away at their very core and life is not nearly as good as it appears on the outside.

If you are one of those people I want to take this opportunity to tell you there is help available. It is only a prayer away. We have someone who is able and willing to share your burdens and carry your hurts and pains for you. His name is Jesus and He really does care for you.

In Mathew 11:28 (NIV) we read, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." And in 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

Don't let the termites eat away at you. Come to Jesus and find the peace you need and deserve. You are cared for. Life can be as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.
