Everything Is Yours
There is a wonderful passage almost hidden at the end of 1 Corinthians 3. I
Corinthians 3 is about the natural stupidity of human vanity. It seems there
was a conflict in the Corinthian church regarding whose baptism was the
best. Some people claimed to be baptized by Paul, some by Apollos and
some by Peter. When we stop and realize all of us are baptized into Jesus
the dispute becomes totally ridiculous. It reminds me of Bible battles that
often occur with some people claiming to be righter than another as if we
were saved by theological accuracy instead of by grace.
At the close of chapter three we find this treasure. "Therefore let no man
glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas,
or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are
yours; and you are Christ's; and Christ is God's."
Stop for a moment and ponder the power, the totality, and the vastness of
what Paul is saying. If you allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life you
become the possessor of everything. Obviously Paul doesn't mean you now
own your neighbor's Lexus. He is talking about things greater than any
luxury car, house or object. He is talking about the world, about life, about
the future. Look at the stars and know they are yours. You will travel to
them. You will visit unfallen worlds. Righteousness, goodness, power,
intellect and purity are yours. Let Jesus be your master and God will share
EVERYTHING with you. Wow.
