The Power of Belief

What we believe about ourselves is one of the most powerful determiners of what we are and what we shall become. If authority figures tell a small child he is stupid the child will most likely grow up to be a major underachiever. The perception of stupidity will discourage the child from attempting anything difficult because people do not enjoy failure. The years will go by and we will have a wasted life. Fortunately the reverse is true. With positive realistic encouragement a child will attempt challenges because he or she will grow to love the thrill of victory and with each victory comes more self-confidence to continue to grow. With the encouragement or discouragement of others we create our own future.

The God who created our amazing complex minds, the God who wants us to grow to ends far beyond our wildest dreams encourages us to attempt much. He is thrilled to watch us become like Him as we reach for the difficult.

Psalm 100 verse 4 says, " Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." As we count our blessings we become aware of the good things we have. As we realize how we are cared for we create an environment where good things happen. The rich grow richer. New opportunities arise. Our friends think we are lucky. We know it isn't luck. It is a belief that the One who has led us this far with such care will continue to take us farther and deeper into His kingdom of riches and growth.
