Spring of Life -

Undiscovered Territory
Columbus set out to find a sea route to the Far East. Instead he found the
Americas. Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanized rubber because he
accidentally left rubber mixed with sulfur on a hotplate. In 1898 the Kellogg
brothers unintentionally left a mass of cooked wheat overnight. In the
morning they tried to roll it and suddenly had a plate of Wheaties.
College professors are great a planning ahead. We are required to give each
student a syllabus at the beginning of each semester. The syllabus is a plan
for completing the course with dates, reading assignments and exams all
planned ahead. Sometimes professors leave the classroom and step down to
become administrators. They are used to planning ahead and thus lay out
wonderful long range plans for their institution. Rarely do those plans come
to fruition. This isn't because they are not well thought out. It's just that so
many unforeseen variables occur on a regular basis.
This is the way the world works. Therefore if you are brave soul that loves
adventure I encourage you to make some type of plan for studying God's
Word. Have a goal in mind and jump in. If you like surprises you are bound
to have one. The Holy Spirit will take your mind to places you never
dreamed possible. You will discover new insights. You will sit in wonder
as undiscovered mental countries unfold for you as God leads you into His
domain. Each Gospel, each letter of Paul will be like opening up a new copy
of National Geographic that will show you things from afar.
