God Doesn't Make Mistakes

My car turned over 100,000 miles this weekend. When I turned on the Global Positioning System for directions I almost expected the female voice of the GPS to comment on her age and experience. I thought maybe she would tell me she deserved an extra oil change or a tank of 93 octane as a present for good service rendered. I was prepared to ask her why she can't learn. As I come into my hometown she always unnecessarily tells me, if I have her on, to turn right at a certain corner when all I need to do is keep going straight ahead. At least I can turn her off when she is wrong.

I'm pretty good at following directions. I am also pretty good at giving directions. I doubt I could be a teacher if I didn't do both. I understand the car making a mistake because my students are quick to point out my directional errors. I shouldn't expect more from a machine than I myself can produce.

What I can expect and do get is perfect directions from God. He never makes a mistake. However, sometimes I have difficulty hearing and obeying. Sometimes I think I know a better way. He doesn't want blind obedience. He really does want us to understand why He tells us to do or not to do something. That's why He gave us such wonderful minds. He wants us to challenge and think. He doesn't mind because it gives Him an opportunity to tell us more. But we must be sure to understand when all is said and done, we don't know better than He.

I'm Roger Bothwell and my address is roger.bothwell@verizon.net or 151 Old Farm Rd. Leominster, MA 01453. Thank you for your support of our faith ministry.
