Geocaching in the Wrong Place

Today was a glorious day in New England. The temperature was in the sixties. The sun was bright. We had visiting guests from Canada who love the outdoors so we went Geocaching. We put the coordinates in our GPS and set out for the woods. This wouldn't be hard. It was a white 3-inch PVC pipe with a red cap. For two hours three of us turned over every rock and downed tree around that designated spot. We never found the cache. Upon arriving home we discovered that the coordinates posted on the website were 120 feet wrong, which is huge in a heavily pined and rocky forest.

If you don't go to the right place you will never find the treasure. That's what the first commandment is all about. God does not tell us not to worship other gods because He is an egotist. He tells us not to do that because there is nothing there for us. Other gods are nothing but inventions of men's overactive imaginations based upon human characteristics of greed and lust for power. Those nothing gods are black holes that take everything with no ability to give anything back.

Jesus says, "Come unto me and I will give you rest." He offers forgiveness. He offers an abundant life. He offers eternal life. This is a no-brainer. If you look in the wrong place you come up empty. If you look in the right place everything is available. "Seek and you will find. Ask and it shall be given unto you." These are the promises of the real God who gave everything so we can have everything.
