Get Out Of The House

The results of two new health studies have been published with some very interesting data. It seems the lonelier people are the weaker their immune systems. Loneliness depresses our ability to fend off nasty germs that cause everything from the flu to heart disease. So get out of the house and socialize. Join a church. Participate in community activities. Volunteer at the local hospital or some other form of community service. The Bible says, "Man was not made to live alone." That also means women.

In Hebrews 10 we read, "Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: . ." There it is. The Bible says we need to assemble. We need to mix. I also enjoy what we are supposed to do when we do mix. According to this we are supposed to provoke each other. Today the word "provoke" has negative connotations. But in this context we are to provoke each other to love more and to do more good things. So if you are a stay at home, sit on the couch, television watcher let me try to provoke you to get up and get out. If I can't get you to do that, then invite others into your home. Do so and you will live longer and happier lives.

Genesis tells us we were made in God's image. Revelation tells us God is surrounded by a countless number of beings. He is a social God and so are we to be social.
