No Reason To Quit

Her name is Marian McPartland. If you have ever listened to National Public Radio there is a good chance you have heard her program called Piano Jazz. If so, you would have heard her interviewing, playing and magnificently improvising with some of the greats of jazz. Jazz is America's classical music. Piano Jazz is the longest continuously running program on NPR. Marian did her first program in 1978. She has recorded over 50 albums. Think of any notable jazz musician and Marian has surely played with them because she is 87 years old and still going strong.

I am always amazed at extraordinary people and wonder about the qualities that have made them so different from the masses. Moses was called by God to lead the children of Israel when he was 80. Apparently age is not a factor with God. Most likely it is because God Himself is timeless and is called "The Ancient of Days." I have sincere doubts if God is ever done with us. There are always new opportunities for us to serve if we will daily ask God to open our eyes to see them. It is a matter of wanting to be of service. Service is the law of God's Kingdom. Service is the key to the abundant life. Service is the source of inner happiness. It is true physical strength does wan. But that is no reason to stop. It is only cause for creativity to wax.

Psalm 27:1 tells us the Lord is the strength of our lives. With that kind of power there is no reason why we should ever quit.
