Spring of Life -

Our Christmas Goose
Our Christmas goose flew across the yard this morning. He and eleven
companions honked their way past at tree top level announcing to all who
would listen that they were not going south for the winter. As I watched them
glide down into the valley I realized what a perfect animal they are. They
can walk, sort of, swim, excellently, and fly, magnificently."
We also had turkey for Christmas. Just after noon I noticed our dog staring
intently out the window. There were nine wild turkeys scarfing down the
cracked corn we spread out for whatever needed a Christmas dinner. Our
snow-covered table was also visited by sparrows, doves, chickadees,
cardinals, blue jays and of course squirrels. We did not have to worry about
spending Christmas day alone.
Our world is a splendid place teeming with life, even during winter. There
are so many marvelous arrangements of protons and electrons. Until very
recently we thought all matter was composed of such. The biggest science
idea of 2003 is protons and electrons only comprise 4% of matter. The rest is
dark energy or dark matter. Whatever it is, it is the opposite of gravity and
like a mysterious force it is spreading our universe ever wider. In case you
are wondering what I am talking about, so am I wondering what I am talking
about.
There is so much to learn, so much to study and so much to see. How
thrilling it is that our creator made it possible for us to live forever because it
is going to take forever to learn it all.
