Baseball Fever

Baseball fever is raging in New England. The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees are battling to see who will go to the World Series and on to victory. Boston has not won a World Series since 1918. They have never won since they traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees. True fans have a major problem. They want so much for the Sox to win but they realize if they do a century long tradition and mystic will be over. There is something to be said for hanging on to a persona and should they win it will be gone. So there is a nostalgic feel in the air of the screaming, cheering crowds.

Then there is the Chicago Cub situation. Their losing streak is even longer than the Sox. What would happen if they ended up in the World Series playing each other? Can they both lose? For whom should we cheer?

Alas we live in a world of winners and losers. There is no way they can both be winners. I am so happy when it comes to salvation and eternal life there is no limit to the number of winners. There are not just so many places to be filled. God wants to fill heaven and if need be He will make it bigger to accommodate even more winners. Jesus wants everyone to be saved. In a perfect world everyone would be saved. But sadly enough this is not a perfect world. A lot of people aren't going to win. And the really sad part is all they have to do is accept the gift.
