A Song by "Bread"

Every once in awhile we come across lyrics to a popular song that was not written with Jesus in mind but the words have amazing meaning for our walk with the Lord. Usually when this happens it is a love song. "I Would Give Anything" by "Bread" is one of these songs. Listen to the words.

"You sheltered me from harm. Kept me warm, kept me warm. You gave my life to me. Set me free, Set me free. The finest years I ever knew were all the years I had with you

You taught me how to love, What its of? What its of? You never said too much, but still you showed the way, and I knew from watching you. Nobody else could ever know the part of me that can't let go.

I would give anything I own, give up my life, my heart, my home. I would give everything I own just to have you back again."

Isn't that amazing? "You sheltered me from harm." Jesus does that.

"You gave my life to me." Jesus does that.

"Set me free." Jesus does that.

"You taught me how to love." Jesus does that.

"You showed me the way." Jesus does that.

And I also wish it would be true for all of us that we could say to Jesus, "I would give anything I own, give up my life, my heart, my home just to have you." What is so grand is we can have Him and when we do we get to live forever.
