A Bountiful Summer Is Coming

While taking our lab for a swim this evening we noticed the blueberry bushes and the wild grape vines are bursting with tiny green fruit. If only half of them mature we have a bountiful summer on its way. The path to the lake is lined with wild flowers and wild strawberry plants. Just in case we become overwhelmed by the continued bad news that dominates the airways the world is still a wonderful place. It is the people that are the problem.

My red truck was yellow this morning. My hands were yellow just from opening the door because there is so much pollen falling from the birch and pine trees in my driveway. God is prodigal. He overwhelms us with new life. One cannot look around and not realize there is hope for a bountiful future if only we don't spoil it.

In Romans 1:20 Paul wrote, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." All we need to know of God can be seen in the wonder of His handiwork. Around 515 AD Boethius wrote, "As far as you are able, join faith to reason." The truths of faith and reason are one in the same. God moves into our minds via our senses and whispers, "See all this. It did not happen by chance. It is here because I want you to be abundantly rich and happy."

If your faith does not bring you joy, do some serious changing.
