No Forty-Nine Cent Charge

If I were required to produce a top ten list of life's greatest mysteries my phone bill would be near the top. Have you ever really looked at one of those things or do you just give up and pay what it says? Not only is there the basic charge and the long distance fees for each call, there is the FCC Line Charge and the Federal USF Surcharge and the Local Number Portablility. (Whatever that is?) Now here is one that really gets to me. It is a forty-nine cent charge for Touch-tone Service. Does that mean I can save forty-nine cents if I still use an old rotary dial? If so, are they serious? Whatever happened to "Reach out and touch someone?" I guess it is still There, it just costs an extra forty-nine cents.

I remember a great story about Jesus reaching out and touching someone for free. It was such an exciting story Mark put it in his very first chapter. While Matthew and Luke are talking about the nativity and John is writing about Jesus being the incarnate Word of God, Mark wants us to know right off from the beginning that this Jesus he is going to tell us about touched a leper. By the end of chapter he has Jesus being pursued by such large crowds Jesus can no longer enter towns because the streets were too narrow.

There is not doubt about it Jesus is wonderful. And best of all He will touch each of us and there is no forty-nine cent charge.

I'm Roger Bothwell and my address is roger.bothwell@verizon.net or 151 Old Farm Rd. Leominster, MA 01453. Thank you for your support of our faith ministry.
