Seeds of Glory

One of my students asked me what we will look like in heaven. Since I really don't know I was delighted to rely on what Paul had to say in I Corinthians 15. It is always nice to fall back on an authority for an answer. Paul said, "But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" . . .When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. . . . So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body."

If we had never seen the process we would never conceive of a mighty oak coming from an acorn. When I see a tomato seed I do not see a big lush red juicy tomato. All I see a little white thing. Paul thrills us with the concept that we are a seed of something glorious. There are things we will be and things we will be able to learn that are beyond our very dreams. Paul wrote, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, . ." There's the answer. We are going to be so much more than we can imagine. How grand.
