One of the most marvelous things Jesus said while on earth was, "If you have seen me you have seen the Father." John 14:9 One of the last things Satan wants is for us to see the Father. He does not want us to understand what an incredibly warm, caring, concerned God He really is. Satan would have us think of God as unapproachable and full of active vengeful wrath. Nothing could be farther from the truth. One of Jesus' main tasks while here was to dispel the ancient view of God. This morning my house was shrouded with fog. It was dangerous to back out of my driveway into the street because I just could not see. As I slowly rolled down the hill toward the main part of town the fog grew thinner and thinner. The farther I went the better I could see. This is the way God has been revealed to us. He was shrouded in mystery. He was compared to the pagan Gods surrounding Israel. They did their best to tell us about Him. But they were hampered by history, tradition and culture. Then Jesus came and the fog rolled away. There He was. God made flesh, Emmanuel, God with us. There is no need to be afraid. Now we have seen. Now we can come boldly before His throne as sons and daughters, princes and princesses. Jesus made all the difference.
