A Very Important Place To Have One’s Name

We are getting new next door neighbors. Actually we are getting a whole new house next door. Construction equipment and carpenters are going to be busy from dawn to dusk trying to get the new house closed in before winter comes. They have a long way to go. Just yesterday they poured the foundations. Last night I was walking around the new footings with my new neighbor and mentioned that while the concrete was still fresh he needed to put his name in them since he is the builder of the house. Ancient kings like Nebuchadnezzar had his name on most of the bricks of ancient Babylon. So my new neighbor picked up a stick and scratched both his and my name in the new cement. Mine hardly belonged there.

It made me stop to think about just where are names do and do not belong and I certainly thought of a place they do belong. In Rev 20:15 (KJV) it says, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Obviously having one’s name written in the book of life is much to be desired. Not just desired it is a necessity. It is the record of our salvation.

When we make Jesus the Lord of our lives and accept from Him the free gift of eternal life our names are recorded in the wonderful book. It is better than any “Who’s Who.” It is the only truly significant place to have one’s name.

Jesus is wanting to write it there and if you will just say, “Yes,” He will gladly do so. Don’t wait another second. Please do it now.
