Spring of Life -
Sometimes after talking with
someone who seems a bit removed from the reality of life
about them we describe them as not knowing the time of
day. We have a Christmas cactus that does not know the
time of the year. Here we are rapidly approaching summer and
this cactus has beautiful red blooms. Now I am not
complaining. I am enjoying its beauty. It is a rare surprise
and I love it.
I read a book once entitled,
Bloom Wherever You Are. The theme was the
importance of making the very most of your life no matter
what the environment you are in. Some people allow others to
destroy them. They allow set backs and adversity to paralyze
any growth in their life. They cease to be productive and
blame others for their lack.
This does not have to be.
While life can be difficult -- While it can be harder for
some than others -- While we may not have the resources or
talents someone else has -- We can rise to the greater
challenge and determine our own destiny. God has given us
the freedom to choose what kind of people we want to be. He
will supply tools and power for us to construct that person.
But we have to do the building. If I am going to get an
education I have to attend class. If I am going to succeed
at work I have to go there and be on time.
Pray for guidance. Pray for
strength. Pray for wisdom. Pray for opportunity. Work very
hard and you can bloom anywhere.
